It is not that easy to define the style of these British band with French name – Depeche Mode, it could be called rock, synth pop, techno or sometimes even punk – there music style is too broad for definitions. But the only thing that is known for sure – Depeche Mode is one of the most popular alternative bands in the world. Who could imagine in seventies that David Gahan who was one of the most desperate guys in little town Basildon, Martin Gore who was the real earnest pupil, Andy Fletcher, Vince Clark and Alan Wilder would become one of the most popular band of post-punk society, leaders of the new wave?
The album that we are introducing you now is live version of Depeche Mode’s disc – ”Everything Counts” and at the same time the soundtrack to film by D. A. Pennebaker – “101” – unique film cause its soundtrack was recorded not in studio but onstage. “101” was released in 1989 and reissued in 2 DVD’s in 2003 but it is still rather rear title. “101” is the movie about musicians and their fans, people who write and play music, people who sell it and buy it, people who are really mad of it. Video in “101” just helps to feel the mood of music. So, if you want to enjoy the full impression of energetic, romantic and brooding songs of “101” album, flavored with the hysteria of the fans screaming in the audience – just take it, listen to it, enjoy it
